Felted Purse Patterns

All patterns are knit with 100% wool. Bulky or worsted weight can be used for any of the patterns. The measurements will vary after felting with different wool weight. Some colors “felt” better than others. Some white or ivory yarns will not felt as well.

Felted purses, hats and accessories are the latest rage. Below you will find my knitting and felting patterns. Each purse/bag is first knit and then felted in the washing machine, using “hot” water, 2 tablespoons of soap, water level set at “low” with a bath towel added to the load. The item being felted should be placed in a pillow case and securely closed. The agitating of the machine, combined with the soap and hot water, makes the “felting” process happen. Complete felting instructions are included in each pattern.

Some purses are shown with “needle felted” embellishments. Designs are not included in the purse patterns. Kits and patterns are available for each shown on the site.  Go to the “felting kits” and “felting patterns” links for more details.
